CHALKI

ENJOYMENT

The steep cliffs that stand bare and inaccessible are the first thing that one will see when entering the port of Halki. And then the look is lost in the colors yellow, crimson, green, blue, purple and white of the houses, before diving into turquoise waters. On what other island can one swim in this beautiful sea while gazing at this unique view? Nowhere. Only here. Where else does the sound of the car seem foreign? Of course here. Where else does time expand and the senses calm down? Definitely here.

In this small island with the amphitheatrically built houses that all face the sea, the whole history of the Dodecanese is concentrated. The village, the medieval settlement of the island with the scattered white churches, hidden on the steep slopes of the mountains above the ruins of the ancient citadel and crowned by the knight's castle, says a lot about the character of the locals. Local stories and tales enliven the mystery created by the landscape. Nimborio with its neoclassical buildings, colorful stone houses and picturesque taverns says so much more about yesterday and today. The City Hall, the clock, the church of Agios Nikolaos with its pebble floors and the ornate bell tower stand out in this preserved settlement. The monastery of Agios Ioannis of Alarga with the famous festival under the sounds of the lyre at the end of August, do not fit in a few lines.

Halki, the small island that is only an hour away from Rhodes has to offer something alternative that is not easily described, only experienced and enjoyed.
